Why Canadian Pharmacies Could Lead Vaccine Distribution for COVID-19

We have finally started to receive encouraging news about the COVID-19 pandemic, there are several viable vaccine candidates that have entered their final phases of clinical trials and are likely to be available in the next 6 months.

Did you know that most Canadians live within 5-kilometers of one of the 11,000 community pharmacies across the country?

Federal and Provincial governments are beginning to develop their strategy to distribute to the general population and pharmacies could be a big piece in the distribution puzzle. Many Canadians are used to heading to their local pharmacy for annual flu shots, so the idea that vaccines would be available in pharmacies makes sense. Add to this that many pharmacies are open 24-hours and are easily accessible by the vast majority of Canadians: it makes sense to have the vaccines available here.
